I have a film in SVCD format which I would like to convert to DVD.  I tried following the above guide but found, as the guide stated, that I had .mpg instead of.dat files.  As the guide said this was ok I copied these into a file on my hard drive naming them video1.mpg and video2.mpg as instructed.  However when I tried to load these into TMPEGEnc Plus as per the instructions I got the following error message:

C:/destination file/video1.mpg cannot open or unsupported

What am I doing wrong??  Should I be following another guide??

Many thanx

You should go to Tools -> Folder options (in Windows Explorer).

There go to view tab and deselect \"Hide extensions for known file types\".

Do the files play in Windows Media Player?

as a .dat.. they come up as inrecognisable files! Could that be the problem?

Also the folder its in is called \'mpeg2\' not \'mpegav\' and it is a svcd!

Hi.

if i am not wrong , Windows Media Player 9.0 has some problems playing  back a SVCD.  Do you have a DVD Player, e.g power dvd  for your computer?? If you have drag and drop the .dat file into the player, it should be able to play from there.

Hi

Do try this, go to www.isobuster.com and download ISOBUSTER. The current Version is 1.6.

Using your SVCD, look for your MPEG2 folder, locate the .mpg /.dat file and then right click, and choose Extract but Filter only M2F2 Mpeg Frames.
Choose a location and new filename and let it extract the file. Once done, try opening it with TmpgEnc...

Hope this works for you
