DVD -RW ideas?

I just discovered that my LG DVD burner also burns DVD-RW (it was part of a computer Gateway said only burned DVD-R and DVD-RAM). However, I am having trouble getting my media to work consistently.
I have purchased store-label media from Office Depot and CompUSA. The CompUSA stuff appears to have bad disks (2/6 so far work with neither Nero nor DVD Decryptor). The Office Depot media work reliably w/ DVD Decryptor, but not reliably w/Nero.
I would prefer to have media that works w/ both programs, of course, but am also looking for a good deal. Ideas?
Bonus Question: How do I go about getting refund/exchange on bad disks w/ CompUSA media? Do I need to bring back all 10? (I bought a group of 10.)

Hi..
I have an LG GSA-4081B, should be the same or at least similar to the one you have.
For me i use either Sony or TDK DVD-R and DVD-RW.. For DVD RAM, I am using Panasonic.
The Program I used to burn is only Nero.. not sure about how the other programs work
I am not sure which kind of media u are referring to (DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, etc) but for me burning DVD-R has given me no problems. But occasionally burning a DVD-RW/ burning and then reading a DVD-RAM will give me errors (e.g. Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)). it seems to occur mainly after a format of the disk is done..
What i do is to format the disk again (in my computer choose your DVD recorder Drive and right click to format) and try writing then copying/moving the data from the disk. If it works then i will never do a format of the disk again.. will just remove data. Seems to work for me this way. If u have the time try formatting the DVD-RW/DVD-RAM a few times and you will see that the amount of storage space varies.. I have no idea why though but it does cause problems.... At this moment i have a DVD-RAM which has a UDFFS20 and have a total disk space of 4.26GB.. Noticed if u format it and u get 4.25, the above error will happen.. That is for me anyway..
Also before burning to a DVD-R, burn it on a DVD-RW first.. At least u know it is working and you wont waste a disk.
Hope this helps...

Sorry, I clearly was not being coherent.
I am trying to burn DVD-videos onto DVD-RW. I am using both Nero 6 Ultra Edition and DVD Decrypter to do the actual burning. Since I\'m making DVD videos, I don\'t think I can simply format once and then erase and rewrite.
I have tried using media from both Office Depot and CompUSA (store name stuff). I bought the store name stuff because, well, it was cheapest. However, I am having terrible luck with the CompUSA stuff (about a third of the discs refuse to burn with either program) and marginal success w/ Office Depot discs (some won\'t burn w/ Nero Recode, though all seem to work with DVD Decrypter). I\'m willing to spend more $$ on better discs, because my cheap discs are turning into expensive coasters!
The question, thus, is: Does anyone have ideas for reliably good DVD-RW media? Ideas on where to purchase for a reasonably good price :?:

Actually you can format the disc and then write another movie!
What you should do is buy some good brands and not the ones that the big stores are selling. TDK, Princo ad Ritek are considered to be good ones.

Right, hence the -RW. What I understood the previous poster to suggest was to format the disc once, then write and erase files for reuse (and not reformat). To re-write a movie, I need to reformat, no?

Thanks for the suggestions. I\'ll look for those three brands in the future.

What not you get just 1 disk of another brand to try? As Afonic said TDk is a good brand. So is Sony and Panasonic (I am using all the above brands and so far gave no problems). All the above brands are about the same price actually, some being just 10 - 40 cents difference in price.
You can try using Nero to erase the DVD-RW.. just pop the disk in and choose Recorder -> Erase Rewritable Disk.
