I used the trial version of 5.6 to convert an old PAL avi file to DVD.  The DVD plays fine from my hard drive with WinDVD.  Then I burned the DVD to disk with WinAVI.  Hence the problem, my JVC DVD player willl not recognize the DVD although I have played several PAL DVDs previously.

Also, the resulting DVD disk will not play in my computer using any of my players although, as previously said, the DVD file plays fine from the hard drive.

Also also, when I try to burn the DVD file using Nero I get an error saying it cannot reallocate some files and that the resulting video may not play properly.  I have not proceeded beyond that error message.

Any ideas or help will be appreciated as I found WinAVI to be very easy to use and much faster than other conversions and I plan to buy the full version if I can get the DVD disks to play on the JVC player.  If not, it is of no use to me.
