you only need ONE program...

Tmpgenc Dvd Author....that is it!!!  Cheesy

you can use the original guide by afonic...it works great but i changed to the method below cuz it\'s faster for me and don\'t need multiple software

here are the steps:

1. make sure your files are in .mpg format...rename .dat files to .mpg if necessary (or use vcdgear)

2. open up tmpgenc dvd author software

3. click on \"source setup\"

4. click on \"untitled track 1\" and give it a name if you wish

5. click \"add file\" and choose your .mpg file

6. keep the option button on default \"stereo\" unless your file is DUAL language...if so, click \"bilingual\"

MAKE SURE there is a checkmark in the \"re-encode the audio using the output format of the track

7. click on \"add track\" for your NEXT mpg file and repeat steps 4-6

keep on doing it until you are done...

8. click \"create menu\" if you want to put a menu screen for your dvd...you can fiddle around with menu style/font/settings...it\'s easy

9. click \"output\" and choose a location for your dvd files

10. click \"begin output\" when you are all ready...this will take awhile...cuz the program needs to re-encode the audio to 48khz for each track...how long it takes depends on your quantity of mpg files...a full capacity disc will probably approx. 90-120 mins (@1.3ghz & 512mb ram)

11. then you can open up the burning tools that come with the software and burn the disc

Hi there,

this guide is great thanks, but I have found many problems in that (wrong audio, video spit, other programs) so I still suggest you use the other one!

Of course it\'s a very good alternative, so I\'ll make this thread a sticky one!

hi site admin,

what problems did you have? can you elaborate?

wrong audio/video spit/etc??

please explain....thanks

i\'ve done almost 10 discs with this method so far and yet to see any problems...if there is, please let me know so i can check it out...i\'ve played them on my standalone and checked each track very briefly...in other words, i haven\'t yet played the entire disc from start to finish...

your guide is great too...i\'ve done it many times with no problems (with a slight change; i ignore the merge & cut part)...the only issue is that i have to sit at the computer for each file during the besweet process....i have tried to join 10 files all together into one file...using merge and cut...and so on....have major playinig issues when i put it in the dvd player...issues like:

1. audio/video not matching (tough to match for one huge entire file)

2. major video glitches (probably cuz it\'s a huge file)

and other issues....

that is why i feel it\'s better to keep each mpg file as a separate track....rather than join them all together and make chapters...cuz it doesn\'t look good this way on the dvd player display...shows the time as 420:00...for example...since the entire disc is ONE track with many chapters

Most discs are fine but i believe a small portion of them will face some problems.

hmm....never seen that before...

what is the origin of your dat file? was your vcd created with nero originally? (any vcd created with easy cd creator is pure crap)

maybe your dat file is a non-standard vcd file?

does your .dat file play perfectly in all standalone dvd players AND in windows media player?
