I purchased a commercial DVD set of a TV series and want to back up each disc as well as remove unwanted credits.

I used DVD Decrypter to successfully rip a disc to my hard drive.  Then, using Nero Encode 2, I was able to trim the credits from each episode (with Set Start/End Frames) and burn a DVD that played properly on my computer and a stand alone DVD player.

My problem is that for each episode there are additional credits contained in end of the first chapter of each episode.  I have attempted to cut these credits out using NeroVision Express.  The resulting DVD played OK but the audio and video were out of sync and did not play smoothly.

I am new to DVD burning and editing but I can’t see anything I might have done wrong.  Do I need some other editor to achieve what I am trying to do?

Sounds like everything should be OK. Do you have the latest Nero?

Did you try the final disc before burning it to make sure it worked there? Have you tried the disc in a 3rd player not already tested?

The version of Nero 6.3 was updated to the latest 2 weeks ago to 6.3.1.20.  I played the disk on two players on my computer (Intel Pentium 4) – Nero Show Time and Cyberlink Power DVD with the same problems.  I have two stand alone players and the burned DVD played with the same problems on both.

My problem may be with NeroVision Express.  I took one vob file from the ripped disc and used NeroVision Express to create a DVD-Video from it.  I used the make new movie option, imported the vob file as a media file and added it to my project, created a simple menu item and then burned it to my hard disc.  Nero went ahead and burned the new DVD-Video.  When I played it on my computer the audio and video were out of sync by a second or so.  This was all without doing any cutting or other editing of the file.

I guess my question is what is going wrong with Nero?  Can the program be used to take a DVD movie and cut a section out of it (not simply trim it).  Is this operation better done with some other editor?

Thanks for any help.

Problem solved:
So I purchased a copy of DVD ReMake and it did just what I needed.  I was able to clip start and ending credits, remove menu transistions (neat to see the first time around but then they grew tedious) and most important I could cut out sections within a program chapter and/or split chapters.  Well worth the price of admission.

I am sure this program will do much more but with almost no learning curve to climb I got what I needed at present.
