I really need some help with this whole burning dvds thing, Ive read lots of guides but I still cant manage to burn dvds properly. The problem I have Is that there is no audio on my finished DVD.

Let me start by telling you the proccesses that I have gone through and prehaps someone can tell me where ive gone wrong.

First I download a film normally in .AVI or .DivX format, I then convert the file using TMPGEnc DVD Source Creator so that I have two mpeg files, a video and audio file. then I convert these two files using IfoEdit to get the following:

                         FILE NAME            -          FILE TYPE

                         Default                 -          PLS File
                         VTS_01_0             -         DVD  Navigation file
                         VIDEO_TS            -         DVD  Navigation file
                         VTS_01_0.BUP      -         BUP File
                         VIDEO_TS.BUP      -        BUP File
                         VTS_01_1             -        VOB File
                         VTS_01_2             -        VOB File
                         VTS_01_3             -        VOB File
                         VTS_01_4             -        VOB File
                         VTS_01_5             -        VOB File

Then I use Nero 6 Burning rom, I select DVD from drop down menu, I select DVD Video then I click NEW and I move all of the above files into the red folder marked VIDEO_TS. then I click burn.
The finished disk never has audio though.
The origonal .AVI did have audio so what am I doing that stops the audio apearing on my finished DVD.

Can someone plaese help me, Ive tried reading guides and followed them very carefully, Ive downloaded different software but I feel like Im going round in circles.
Prehaps someone could point me in the direction of an Idiots guide that can tell me what to do from start to finish - .AVI to finished burnt working DVD

Please please help.
I would be very gratefull

Why go through all this when you can just use Nero to burn as VCD to disk and then play it..  Your choping up the file and then putting it together again which you shouldn\'t have to do.

Just try using Nero to burn to disk in a VCD format and don\'t bother with choping up the file like this, it will be a headacke..

well ive just converted avi to mpeg using tmpgenc source creator with the sound plug in. I saved it into a folder and clicked on it to see if the sound would play, It did. the sound on the created mpeg file is good, there is one problem though and that is that the picture will not play!!!

now I could use ifoedit again to convert to dvd files and see what happens,

or i could try converting avi to 2 mpeg\'s one for sound and one for audio again. now that I have the new sound plugin

Or I could try clicking the check box that says create wav for audio when choosing the target in tmpgenc.

I need some help with this, but one things for sure, I am going to sort this out.

Ive worked it out, the files Ive been converting have different audio codecs. tmpgenc will do pcm audio and mp2 audio, but some of the files Ive been trying to create although they are avi they have different audio codecs like mp3. So now that I know why there has been no sound I need to find software that can convert avi files to dvd with all the differnt types of audio codec, or alternativly I need a plug in for tmpgenc that can handle all the audio codecs. If anyone knows where I can Find this please let me know.

Well you can use Virtual Mob to extract the video and audio and then convert the audio to something else.  Try this program.

Yeah I think that is the best solutio. Extract the audio and convert to Mp2 using a program like BeSweet. Then encode the video to MPEG2 and author the DVD.
