System restore is a very good feature of WinXP.

Yeah never know what happens..  I recommend you create a system restore date when the computer is running good.

You can do this by going to Start program files/ Xp is All programs and to Accessories > then to system tools > Then to System restore and just create a date when your not having problems.

I say this because something happened to me and it wasn\'t keeping a date ever so often like it should have and I went way out to fix a problem to which all I should have done is a simple system restore but wasn\'t so on my part...  I learn better now to just create dates my self ever so often my self...  Wee hoo for mistakes learned from the passed.

Wink

C&C trashed my system one time.  If something goes wrong during the install, it won\'t uninstall properly.  It won\'t even let you reinstall over the top.  It totally screwed up the installshield.  I never figured out how to fix it and had to reinstall the whole XP OS.

I make a habit of doing restores and backups as often as possible, however I have NEVER been able to recover from a serious crash regardless of my attempts.  I\'ve been able to save my data but not the OS.  I give the windows OS a 6-8 month life span....that\'s it!  Anything over that is pure trouble.

I just went out and purchased an external 80 gig drive the other day to save myself some headaches.  Why?  When I got back from active duty, my computer wouldn\'t start.  The mobo took a dump.  Unfortunately I was using promise RAID and the new board had VIA raid.  Completely incompatible.  I lost tons of stuff including a good 3-4 gig of personal source code that I have been building on for years.  I was @#$@#^$% to high hell to say the least.  Never again!!

Although I said \"never again\" the last time too....

I have about 14 systems here and I do so because it keeps me from being without a system.  I also use each system for a specific purpose (i.e. DVD burning, PrintServer, Gaming, Heavy Apps, Webserver, ect.)  The downside is that I am ALWAYS fixing one of them.  I can\'t count the number of times that I have gotten ticked off and taken a hammer to stuff.  My last victim was scanner.  It ain\'t scanning #$@7 no more!!!
