6.2
« on: December 27, 2004, 07:44:44 PM »

Hi
I have been reading a few threads here and find that I too am having a similar problem.
I have been using 5.8 with great sucess for a bit of time now. I decided to purchase and upgrade to the lates version 6.2
My process meter hangs at 99% and I too have to close manually.
The file that is converted will play on the computer but will not play on my stand alone dvd played. I never had this problem with 5.8

Hi,

Perhaps you can fill in your computer specs OS as well. This will help the WINAVI team to troubleshoot this problem.

Thanks

From an email I got from WinAVI guys:

Quote
Sorry for the last email about we\'ve released the WinAVI Video Converter v6.2 yesterday, we found a big bug in this version. Now, we\'ve fixed it and everyone please re-download it again and build your special version again, sorry for it, really.

So please, download AGAIN even if you already got 6.2, you may have got the problematic version!  Smiley

I\'m having the same issue!
I have not been able to play a DVD converted by WinAvi since 5.8.

I just downloaded 6.2, again, from the WinAvi homepage.
(Sure would be handy if they could include a build number in the instal file)

The new and improved 6.2 converts OK, but the disk is NOT playable in my stand alone DVD player.

It does play in my computer DVD drive. But if I was happy watching on my PC, I would not be converting!

The following is from Nero InfoTool about my PC:

I just received this reply from WinAvi:

Quote
\"Hello,
I\'m sorry! Would you please tell me the brand of your dvd player? Maybe the
discs is not compatible with your player. If so, please visit
http://www.videohelp.com to learn some details on how to correct it.
By the way, you also can install a Nero to burn your files to have a try!
If you have any questions, please don\'t hesitate to ask.
Sincerely,
Lily
***WinAVI*** Just U.S.$ 29.95!
WinAVI Video Converter is an ALL-IN-ONE solution for video file converting
and burning!
Home: http://www.winavi.com\"

I replyed with the following:

Quote
Hello,

My DVD player is a Sansui, I\'m using RiData +R disks, I have been able to
convert and burn over 25+ files using WinAvi 5.8.

I have upgraded to 6.2, and it does not work!

Nothing else has been changed! Just the version of WinAvi! I am using the same
computer, the same media, even the same avi files to test.

I am using the latest version of Nero. In fact I am now using Nero Vision
Express to convert and author DVDs that will play on my stand alone player. Nero
just takes a little longer to convert. But if I consider all the time I have
spent trying to make WinAvi work, Nero has saved me time!

I like your program, it is fast, and the quality was acceptable. I would like to
use your program, but I can not, it no longer works.

What can I do?

At least they are looking at this issue! If you are having problems with 6.2, please send WinAvi a message. The more feedback they receive, the faster they will work on a solution!

Hi
I send winavi support an email a few days ago...basically the same reply.
I too have reverted to Nero express to burn some dvds .... but since I paid for Winavi 6.2 I would like to have it working.
Refering customers to a site dealing with dvd players problems is not really good tech support I am not impressed with that one!!
They did give me the url to get 5.8 back but that is just avoiding the problem

It is interesting to note the number od \"views\" on this msg....

Anyway. I paid for a copy od Winavi and expected to have 6.2, well 6.2 does not work with me....so I am using 5.8.....what did I pay for?Huh If I bought a 2005 car and it didn\'t work then do I take a 2004 in stead?Huh

I reported the problem...like many. many other to here AND WinAVI \"support?Huh\" weeks ago

I am NOT a happy camper.......
When I spend my $$ I expect \"reasonable\" service!!

I have 25 years of computer expericence behind me and I am not impressed any more.....with this software...they should get their act together or pack up and leave!!!!
