Hi all - I\'m a newbie here and a newbie winAVI 6.2 user on my AMD athlon XP 1600 with 784MB RAM. I was hoping someone could help me better understand an issue I\'m experiencing with converting using winAVI.

On more than one occasion after converting an avi or mpeg file to DVD format and then burning that supposedly converted DVD-ready file to a DVD -R disc, the disc refuses to play in my home entertainment commercial DVD player. The letters PAL come up in the DVD units\' display and the disc does not play, even though the burning process has been completed successfully. Also, the DVD-R discs I\'m using are compatible with my NEC 3500A burner and I\'ve been able to convert and burn some video files successfully on these same discs using the same software - winAVI 6.2 + nero 6.6 and they\'ve played just fine on my DVD player.

I don\'t know much about PAL other than that PAL is one standard video tape format and NTSC is the other.

Why is this happening? Is there something I need to know about the source file being converted? I hate to keep wasting DVD disc\'s creating files that will not play on my commercial DVD player.

Sincere thanks in advance for any advice anyone might provide.
