i used TMPGenc DVD Author to author my first DVD(15 MPG TO DVD). i read alot of guides on using this program and found it easy for a newbie. this is the guide i followed http://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/172123.php. when i played back the DVD on my Panasonic S27, it was black and white and had a white streak on the bottom. from what i was told the DVD was encoded in PAL and United States is NTSC. i also tried playing it on my Apex which has the option in the Video Menu to change the TV OUTPUT to PAL,AUTO,NTSC. the dvd played back fine on NTSC.

my question is out of all the guides ive seen to do MPGs to DVD for TMPGenc DVD Author, none of them mention anything about the output being PAL or NTSC or even have the option of choosing it. i was just wondering if there is anyway to control the output like DVDLab\'s settings where you can choose between PAL or NTSC. the MPG\'s itself are PAL, but i know changing a MPG from PAL to NTSC is a hassle. i tried using DVDLab to make the same dvd but i had a Program Failure error when i tried dragging the mpv file to the Connections or Movie window.

any suggestions as to how i can author a DVD from MPGs and have it play back in a dvd player that doesnt have the option of changing the TV OUTPUT.?

thanks in advance

Hi there,

you choose the format when you create the DVD MPEG2 file, and not when you author it. See an example:

hey afonic, thanks for the reply. btw the link you gave me thats for converting DivX/XviD to DVD MPEG2 can i still convert my MPG\'s to MPEG2 using that guide? and also does that guide basically turn a PAL MPG to a NTSC MPEG2 so when we author it using TMPGenc DVD Author it should playback in any dvd player. would you know how long it usually takes a 220mb MPG to do the conversion according to your guide?

btw when i just use TMPGenc\'s DVD Author like how i did the first time, does DVD Author also create the MPEG2 file while it authors it so its basically turning 2 steps into one, where as using TMPGenc(to convert to NTSC MPEG2) then DVD author is 2 separate steps.

thanks again for your help.
