Hi, I have the latest version of Nero and all I want to do is copy an original dvd onto my hard drive, but there is nothing obvious in the menu that gives me this option.

What is the correct way to do this, or is it even possible with Nero?

Hi,

you cannot copy a DVD directly from the source unless it is an unprotected DVD..

Perhaps one of this programs/guides will help you http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/category/3/77/59/,,

But let\'s say for argument\'s sake that the dvd is not protected, I still can\'t find an option to burn it to my hard disk.

I chcecked the guides page but it doesn\'t help at all, as some of the buttons shown in the guide aren\'t there.

I managed to get the dvd onto my hard disk as nero digital files using nero recode, but I don\'t want the whole thing compilation, menus and all, I just wanted one particular chapter in mpeg format on my hard drive.

This should be the most basic of tasks for a dvd ripper, yet wherever i look there is nothing.

Hi again

Since the DVD is not protected, you can open up explorer, choose your DVD-ROM, then drag and drop all the files into a HDD folder.

If you wish to use Nero, change the recorder to image recorder and it will record an image to your HDD.

DVD rippers will not let you choose which section of video you want usually. Perhaps you can try TMPGEnc DVD Author. It will allow you to cut out the sections of video you dont need.
