I am attempting to convert a xvid file to DVd using WinAVI 6.3.  I get a \"can not render graph..\" error.  What does it mean?   How do I fix this?

hi, please make sure that your xvid file can be perfectly played by windows media player. If it cannot, you\'d better visit http://www.videohelp.com to learn some details on how to correct it.
Besides, you\'d better download a k-lite codec package http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm too.

Willow:

Thanks for you reply.  The file I am trying to convert plays flawlessly in Windows Media Player.  But I still get the error message when attempting to convert with WinAVI.  A related question. The file I am converting comes with a separate subtitle file, is there a way to integrate the subtitles during the coversion process?

hi, please download the Powerdvd codecs from http://www.winavi.com/download/PowerDVD_Codec.zip , and then please unzip it to the \\\\WinAVI VideoConverter\\Filter. Please have a try again!
As to your secode question, I\'m afraid that maybe winavi cannot support this feature currently.

I have exactly the same problem. I started using WinAvi a few days ago and it worked fine. But yesterday that \"cannot render the graph\" error started. Even with files I already converted and burned to a dvd the day before! I dont know what happened, it worked great before! It happens at 99%...im sorry I can\'t help you, I\'m hoping someone finds a solution for us. I looked everywhere on the net, im not giving up, if I know what to do I\'ll let u know. I dont wanna use another program because WinAvi is so easy to use for newbies like me  Smiley

Hi,

try to uninstall WinAVI, delete it\'s folder in case there are any remaining files and then install again.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried that, but I still have the same problem. And another problem occured, the movie plays in green!! I installed a whole lot of codecs, maybe there\'s a problem. How can I find the codecs I installed and remove some of them? Which ones do I really need? I think thats my problem, installing too much!

I finally got it to work.  First uninstall all the codec pack you have, and I mean ALL of them.  Then download Klite codec pack standard.  Google \"Klite codec\" to find it.  It comes in 3 versions, basic, standard, and full.  Besure you ONLY install the standard version!  The other versions don\'t work.  Then you are done.

Hope it works for you.  Please us know how it turns out.

Ok I deleted all of the codecs I installed and installed the klite pack. Things look hopeful, the movie doesnt play in green anymore and WinAvi is converting right now...i\'ll just have to wait and see if he makes it till 100%! Oh yeah, all of my movies look a little bit blurry, not bad, just not totally sharp, I thought this was better before but I could be wrong. Im already glad that the movie isnt green anymore! Thanks for that! And I\'ll keep you updated! Thanks for the quick replies!

UPDATE:

It still gives the \"cannot render graph\" error at 99%  Sad  It can\'t be the movie because Im using a movie that worked a few days ago.

Banana: Are you sure you deleted all of the other codec packs?  Also, it is strange that it will run fine until the last 1%.  I suspect one of the files you included in your coversion list is not a media file.  Sometimes downloaded movies contain a few extra files, which may contain addtional infomation, subtitles or file integrity verifiers.  If you attempted to convert one of these files, you will also get \"can not render graph\" error.  Do not include these king of files when attempting to convert.

I\'m pretty sure I deleted all of the codecs before installing the Klite codec pack. I tried converting a movie with an added subtitle file, it worked fine before! Thats what\'s frustrating me, this movie worked fine before and one day later, it doesnt work anymore! Even if I leave out the srt. file! I hope someone finds a solution soon! But thanks anyway for all the advice so far!

The problem \"cannot render graph\" error at 99%\", must be caused in the case that you are converting more than 1 files at a time. If so, actually, your first file has been sucessfully converted. And as soon as winavi is ready to convert the next one, this problem come out. So please make sure that all files in the file list can be perfectly played by Windows media player.

Okay, I think WinAvi has a problem with my subtitle files....I want my movies subtitled so I guess I have to use another program instaed. Any recommendations? Im probably going to install a different Windows on my computer in a few weeks, so I\'ll try WinAvi again then, with a fresh totally codec-free computer! Thanks for all your advice!
Oh yeah, Cavey, I tried burning the files with Nero, but it warned me that the dvd might be unplayable. I dont wanna ruin a dvd and my dvd player is kinda picky, I have to burn it exactly right or it won\'t play. But thanks anyway!
