Thanks so much for writing this up, I was having problems with Pinnacle Studio 9 Plus - burning a DVD image I created to a DVD. I followed your instructions and everything worked great! I was able to burn a DVD from a DVD image using Nero 7's free download trial version. I now have a DVD and it plays on all my DVD players. You saved me hours of frustration! Thanks so much.

Using 'Decryter, and leading straight into Nero, The resultant disc does not even show up as a DVD in "My Computer". (CD-). I do not have any Upper, or Lower class filters. Everything is fresh on the machine, with new firmware update, and properly installed driver, fer the hardware end. Whatthefock ?

I have a sony handycam in which I recrded 5 movies.. each has diff num of chapters. Now I want only Movie 1 with all its chapters. How do I go about it? I have nero whcih came wid the sony handycam. Nero 6 I guess.
I have wasted a lot of CDs trying to do tht:-(
Need i use a special CD?
The sondy handycam cd shows VIDEO_TS file and 5 VIDEO_TS_1, ...,VIDEO_TS_5 files each hvng one ifo and one BUP file aprt from one wmp file.

i use cucco soft to convert avi fiels to dvd but when it comes to burning them i am using nero 7 and when i burn files and try to play them in my dvd player it only plays half of the film there is no way of seeing the end of the film as there is no option to play other half of movie yet it will play in my pc
i open up nero the go to nero burning rom open up folder where my movies are i drop and drag to nero then click on burn it then burns but problem happens as above this happens EVERY time, plus when i do drop and drag films it only uses between 150 - 200 mb why is this? i hope you can help me asap as i have loads of films i need to put onto disk

This worked perfect for me and I have done it several times now. If you follow the instructions correctly this should work. Just as a side not I have not been burning to a disk. I used this guide to help burn a dvd straight to the hard drive of my laptop, so that I could watch the movie anytime I wanted without the disk. If you read the top it says "Don't use it to burn files or mp3 in your DVD, for this you need to select a DVD-ISO disc" I may be wrong but I think this guide is for burning to your hard drive. If you want to burn to disk you need to find a nero guide that talks about ISO files

Hi friends,

I have a Sony handycam. I regularly shoot and using this handycam. I have a rewritable handycam sony DVD(small). I have a PC pentium III with sony DVD RW which comes along with Nero 07 for writing/copying DVD.
When I want to copy the 3 small DVD into on big (4.7 GB) DVD using Nero 07 I end up with copying only one Disc insted of all DVD. My DVD has all type of file Vedio_tS having VTS_01_1 to VTS 05_01.VOB and other INF files. All the three Small DVD are having same file. May be the reason, that I end up in copying only one DVD.
Can any body help me into transfering the content of the 3 small DVD into one big DVD using Nero 07. Help is requested.

I have Nero startsmart express3 and when trying to make my own DVD/Video evrything goes well while in the burn process. But when I try to play the DVD in any of my DVD players....I get " DISC ERROR " and nothing shows.
How can I correct this or what is it that I am doing wrong ??????

when I do the drag and drop ALL the selected files into the VIDEO_TS folder this message come out" the following files may not reside in the video_TS directory of a DVD-VIDEO compilation.
dvdname1 wmv
dvdname2wmv
Only compliant Dvd Video files...and ext..

what should I do to fix it?

I can burn whole movies fine, but when i try and burn say 4 episodes of southpark on one dvd the first episode is fine but then the other 3 all have there sound running faster than the video? it doesnt matter what episode i put first will work fine all the others after have the sound video problem, any help would be appreciated.

I have downloaded a film, but the Bup VOB (step 6) information is not there - just the title of the film. Nero doen't like it as not in correct format - any idea how to get the correct format? I am new at this and spent hours looking at various sites but without success. I really am a novive, and if I can get the information, your guide is really easy to follow and very helpful.

follow the guide it works just fine if you actually read it and use it as intended.
if you have problems i suggest you google the problem before screaming for help. with a little dilligence you can solve the problem youself or at the very least not look like someone who needs a buttonless mouse.

A lot of you are having trouble playing burned dvds this may be a problem with a very simple solution....Before you give up hope, try finding a dvd player that states that it plays DVD /- R/RW...I see this roblem a lot and that is what generally solves everything

after i use decrypter aand shrink i try burning my file to a dvd with nero burning rom...i follow your procedures and i click on burn...it starts writing the disc but cant get past 1%...then it says BURN PROCESS FAILED and it says ILLEGAL DISC. what am i doing wrong? i am using dvd-r discs

If you just want to watch avi files on your dvd player, use ConvertXtoDVD. Everything works just fine. I have Nero, but I never use it. To complicate for that kind of stuff.

Im using nero burning rom and a dvd-rw disk, but when i go to burn my vob ifo and bup files to the disk it says "formatting disk failed" and "illegal block dize for : hl-dt-st dvdram gsa-4120b" and then it says "could not perform start of disk-at-once, burn process failed at 4x(5,540)" What do i do now? this is all said in the log file.

I have read many posts, and i am still confused. I have a lot of AVI files and i would like to make a DVD. I use Nero 7, and when i select a file, Nero shows that file is too big... How do i make it smaller? Files are about 8mb and disc is 4.9 gb and still wont do it..... is there a shrink for files? or i am just doing something wrong....

The reason the screen gets black and white or rooling when you play it in a standalone DVD player, might be that you have burned it in the wrong Tv format. Pal is about 25 FPS (frame per second), NTSC for North America is about 29.97FPS. This has to be the same as the format on the video file you have downloaded/ripped or whatever illegal way you have gotten it from.

If you still have the software for Nero 6, you should delete Nero 7 off of your computer and reinstall nero 6. I had the same problem with 7, and finally got sick of it. Nero 6 has always worked for me!

I followed the instructions, and they worked fine. Only problem is they do not address how to use Nero to burn a DVD that plays in a home DVD player. I can use the Nero Vision to burn a DVD that works in my home player, but the menu and chapter/tracks do not work. There are simpler ways to burn the same way that is described here, but my findings is that it is for your PC playback only.

Using the latest versions of WinAvi and Nero Burning Rom to convert from Avi to Dvd. I followed the above instructions for the DVD, but the player still won't read it. It plays fine on the computer (Vista). Any help would be appreciated. I used winavi to convert 3 avi files to one dvd with separate titles. The Video_TS folder seems normal, with the three file types, and an extra Vob file for each avi (3). There were no errors in WinAvi or Nero Burning Rom, and the samsung Dvd is compatible with DVD-R/RW. Any help would be appreciated. (I'm using Sony DVD RW's, are they junk?)

I'm using a DCR-SR300, I transferred the files from the cam corder HD to my computer's HD. Now I'm trying to burn to DVD so friends can watch. The 'One Touch' button on the cradle didn't seem to do the trick and the Sony Picture Motion software that came with the camera didn't seem to work either. I get an error during the burn process. Any suggestions on how to do this?????

I'm going to post this same information in the Forums and HOPE somebody can tell me what's wrong.

I have Nero 6, v6.6.1.5 just downloaded "e" earlier today so I have the latest release of Nero 6, and I'm using high quality Ritek DVD-R media. I've read this guide so many times my eye site is blurrying, I've tried 5 times to burn the indicated files first to a DVD-R and all failed. Hiya folks. So i have Nero 7 Ultra and i have followed this step by step to the letter. I simply cannot get this to work. I can burn dvd's off without a problem but the following is what's frying my brain. They DO play on my mum's Toshiba. They DON'T play on my pc even though i have the codecs and they DON'T play on my cousin's standalone player, my girlfriends oh her dad's. I'm having to burn off in PAL format yet i'm told i shouldn't need to. Example... the RED section as described in Step 5... i drag over and get an error message stating the following...

One or more files could not be added to a compilation.

The following files may not reside in the VIDEO_TS directory of a DVD-Video compilation. Only compliant DVD-Video files
VIDEO_TS.IFO,
VIDEO_TS.VOB,
VIDEO_TS.BUP,
VTS_nn_0.IFO,

What the hell is THAT all about? Surely to burn a disc shouldn't have to take 50 mins (PAL format) should it? What am i doing wrong???

Somebody PLEASE help! Wife passed away and it took four months to make a movie of her life. Now I have spent hundreds and it's taking another month trying to get Nero 8 Ultra E. to burn the whole movie. It get about 3/4 through, and then it spits it out saying it's complete. I followed the steps but at Step 9, when I click the BURN icon, a pop up messsage shows: 你的硬體光碟機不支援所選擇的光碟類型.Nero Burning ROM只能夠燒錄至映像檔燒錄器.但必須變更應用程式設定.

It is the problem of my buring machine or the DVD disc (I use DVD R)?

first of all thank you for the advice but i can't understand.I don't know if it's because our computer is vista.my mother say that our computer automatically burns.first I thought our empty disk is rewritable CD but when I look to the disk it displays a sign of "MEMOREX LIGHTSCRIBE DVD R" IT'S the time I realize that it is a rewritable DVD.We have only NERO STARTSMART but you said in your guide that "I SHOW HERE AND NOT THE NERO STARTSMART".MY MOTHER also said that our old computer has the NERO that you advice in your guide because my mother said that our computer do not accept an old version.can you help me??????Pls. send your reply to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .thanks
