How to convert DivX/XviD to DVD using Vso DivXToDVD 0.5.2 PDF Print E-mail

Vso Software's DivXToDVD is yet another simple to use program that can convert your DivX/XviD files (as well as some other formats) to a DVD video disc which you can view using your standalone player. What makes it different than other competitors in the same program category is that it's by far the most simple one (select source file, destination file and click start!) as well as the faster one (the only program in this category that can claim to be faster is WinAVI).

Also its big advantage is that it's free, so you can just download the full version from our downloads section here. Note that 0.5 is the latest free version, as Vso Software has decided to add many new features and make DivXToDVD a commercial program. However this free version is still available and will always be, so feel free to try it and see if it covers your needs.

The commercial version of DivXToDVD is called ConvertXToDVD and includes menu creation, subtitle support, better speed, multiple audio and subs channels as well as support of all the video types out there. It also fixes many bugs this version has. I really suggest you read the detailed guide in our site here and decide yourself if it is worth it upgrading to the full version.

This is the main (and only!) window of DivXToDVD that contains all the settings that need to be set in order to start your conversion. Lets take a closer look to them.
First of all you need to select the movie you want to convert by click the first folder-like icon (1). You can select as many video files as you want and they will be converted to DVD in order of selection. Try to keep the total length of the video files to 2 hours or less. After you select the source files, you need to set the destination folder (2). Make sure there are more than 5GB free in the hard disk you are going to use.
Now if you are sure for the aspect (3) and the standard - format (4) of the files you are converting you can try selecting them to be sure, but usually automatic works just fine. If you have CopyToDVD installed it would be a good idea to select "Burn with CopyToDVD" so that it burns your DVD right after the conversion has finished.
CopyToDVD is a nice DVD burning tool from Vso Software. You can have a look at its guide here. If you don't have a burning tool you can consider it an excellent and cheap choice that will burn quality DVD and CD discs. If you use another DVD burning program instead, just leave this option blank.
Now everything should be set, so you can click Convert (6) for the conversion to start.

This is how DivXToDVD will look after the conversion starts. As stated before, the conversion speed is excellent. For a 2 hour movie, it needed a little more than 50 minutes to convert. As we have selected Burn with CopyToDVD after the conversion is complete the burning process starts.

CopyToDVD will ask you to select the right burner (if you have more than one in your system). Do so, then put a blank media inside, and the burning starts! A few minutes later your new DVD video disc is ready!

The biggest advantage DivXToDVD has is the amazing conversion speed. In most cases an hour will be enough to turn an AVI file into a DVD video disc, a process that with other programs can take more than 3-4 hours. (with the exception of WinAVI, as we already said, which is as fast as DivXToDVD). Also it's very simple, something positive for newbies. However many users would like more features (like DVD menus, custom chapters, double pass). I guess that the first commercial version will be much improved, but until that happens download and try this free one, you won't lose!

The commercial version of DivXToDVD is called ConvertXToDVD and includes menu creation, subtitle support, better speed, multiple audio and subs channels as well as support of all the video types out there. It also fixes many bugs this version has. I really suggest you read the detailed guide in our site here and decide yourself if it is worth it upgrading to the full version.

re: out of sync problem

Yeah I've had some problems with this software in terms of audio sync and my set top DVD player freezing up (and it's not the DVD player either!).

I've done a test of VSO DivxToDVD vs D.I.K.O and found the latter to be much more reliable. It takes longer to convert the files but you'll hardly have any troubles watching the DVD on a set top player.
Thanks!

Hiya All,
I have been using VSO DivxToDVD for ages now and have never had ANY problems whatsoever.

All my films have been perfect. I only convert XViD to DVD though, so wonder if that is why.

Hi

I'm a newbie to all this and have tried a few times to convert divx/xvid files to dvd using VSO DivxToDVD. The conversion seems to work alright, and then I burn the converted files onto DVD using Nero. I can play them fine on my PC, but on my set top DVD player there is no sound. The picture is fine.

Obviously missing something somewhere?

Thanks
Green specks
written by savoytruffle, August 17, 2006
After I convert and then burn the file onto the DVD, I see green specks randomly on the movie at random times while I watch it. How do you get rid of them?

I have had problems with divx files, burned to disc fine using NERO but when I play on my stand alone dvd player the sound is scratchy altho pic is fine. Have tried several progs to convert but it would seem its my dvd player that is the cause of the problem, thats what comes of buying an expensive player rather than a cheap Asda one lol yes the divx dvd's play wonderfully on the Asda player!!!

I thought the language was kinda funny actually. I mean, come on, try to pronounce Schmuck Burgling Thunder Cunts. Got a nice ring to it, doesn't it? :p

Totally uncalled for, okay, but funny nonetheless. Anyway.

Menu background picture issue...
written by ss, August 30, 2007
Anyone know why previously converted files using ConvertXtoDVD won't keep the menu background picture when I try to burn a second DVD copy when I reload them later? The menu is still there but minus the picture, it's only black. The first DVD burned is perfect though.

NO seperate audio stream (AUDIO _TS)
written by Father Xmas, January 08, 2008
I converted one of my own divx vids to dvd, it doesn't seem to have it's own audio stream files. Does this mean it has inbedded audio into the video? My dvd player which is made by a certain japanese manufacturer that sounds like fony is excellent and plays div-x ..but it won't play my newly converted div-x videos which are now dvd streams because it cannot detect any audio. Has anyone else had this issue? Can I create a seperate audio stream? Or could you suggest another free software that would do this for me. Thanx

Getting sound on burnt DVDs when converting
written by aussieguy, April 30, 2008
When you want to convert a movie to DVD you have to create a folder on your hard drive where you want the movie to be stored. You then have to create two sub-folders within that folder - AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. This will allow both sound and video to be captured in the folder. You then drag the first folder into the VIDEO_TS when you add it to NERO when burning the DVD. You will then see all the VTS folders listed ready to burn. You should also have sound.
