| How to rip a DVD To DivX/XviD using FairUse Wizard |

A new program that I tried recently is FairUse Wizard. From the first time I used it I was impressed from the easy to use interface and the very good quality of the output file. And the best of all the program is free, you can download it from here with no cost!
Finally I can say that I was impressed by FairUse Wizard. It is a very poweful tool that creates very good quality video of while it is easy for the newbie to use. In a comparison to the other freeware program that we have in our site, DVDx, I can say that FairUse is much better, and actually it's the program I use from now on. A very good thing is that it is updated often, while DVDx's development seems to have stopped. Also FairUse is much easier to use, includes a ripper and a calculator so that you don't have to bother. It still needs 1-2 things like the ability to encode directly from the DVD or to load DVD files from the hard disk and it is going to be perfect. Are you still here?

Great software, I have the full version. One stinking problem. You are supposed to get life time updates with the purchase of the full version but that feature is gone. I believe you have to spend more money for further updates. So far, ver. 1.0 is working for me.

I would like to use the resolution feature to upscale the image (above 720 x 480). I would also like to use fairuse to convert a dvd to avi but keep 100% dvd quality. Even when I set the file size to dvd size (4.7gigs) fu still compresses the file..
Thanks for the guide

Some additions to the tutorial...

I don't use the auto set for cropping region because it wasn't allowing
for a 512 X 384 resolution. On the last screen... You may have to uncheck show only preferred resolutions to see all the resolution choices. When you select the file size it will automatically highlight a resolution. If you want a specific resolution such as 512X384 or 640X480, you will have to pick a file size that is appropriate for the length of the movie and re highlight the resolution you want, before continuing. The smaller the file size, the lower the bitrate.

Great topic. I was just getting ready to begin finding some tools to do the very same tasks.
The hard part after collecting the data is deciding what's actionable and how.
More than 2?
written by Siggi, March 31, 2007
FUW is great, but is there a way to secure multiple audio streams? At least more than the two slots allocated. Like, say a dvd had 2 channel, 5 channel english audio, but i also wanted directors comments as well. Is that possible?
Paid but no code?
written by Matera, May 31, 2007
I have paid for the full software but I have not been given the code or a place to download the full ver. This makes me mad!
Heard great things but they don't give me what I paid for and don't answer my emails. Bad Bad Bad

written by dimuthummee, July 31, 2009
In KMplayer I can't go through in the frames from one subtitle to another when I play the DVDs. But It's all right when we play divx vedios (.avi format) with external subtitles. I want to go through from subtitle to subtitle when I watch DVDs for my studying purposes. Would somebody pl suggest a solution.
Also pl suggest me a good DVD ripper. DVD ripper I'm using is not good. Whole DVD I can't convert in to whatever file size (E.g 700 MB size)I want. Also some convertions can't be done in to one single file. Pl help me.Thank you in Advance.

Multiple chains
written by Lorenzo, November 23, 2009
I am trying to rip a DVD (documentary) where multiple chains are present. I mean there is not just one "main movie", but 4-5 mais movies all around 15-25 minutes. Fairuse creates a single AVI for each chain ... what I want to know is how can I rip this all into a single global AVI file (all chains into one AVI) ?
